Free resources for 18 October 2026. Today's two Williams Consultancy downloads focus on manageable steps towards independence at school and home. Both are single-page A4 PDFs, free without an account, email sign-up or payment.

For schools: My independent task plan

For primary teachers and teaching assistants working with pupils aged 7-11. This planner helps a pupil name the task, agree a finish point, choose a first step, prepare resources and decide how to ask for help.

Choose a familiar classroom task. Talk through the plan before the pupil starts, agree a check-in and make the available support clear. Pupils can write, draw or give spoken answers. Finish by checking against the agreed goal and noticing what they managed with and without support.

For families: Ready for tomorrow

For a child aged 4-9 and their parent or carer. Choose three small preparation jobs that suit your household, such as getting a book bag ready, choosing clothes or checking the school's list together.

Spend five minutes choosing the jobs and the help needed. Let your child try one manageable task, agree where prepared items will wait and notice one success. Start with just one job if needed. Adults remain responsible for checking the essentials; this is a shared plan, not a test.

Print and share

Save your chosen PDF and print on A4 at actual size or fit to page. Both resources are free to print and share for home and school use. Please retain Williams Consultancy branding and the website footer.
